Operating Hours

Penrith Whitewater is available for activities from September to June. The office remains available all year to take bookings and enquiries.

Activities include; guided whitewater rafting, self-guided whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking and kayak instruction. Bookings are essential for rafting and kayak instruction.

The water times displayed on our home page are not restricted to the times shown. Please call us on 02 4730 4333 to confirm times or enquire about other available times.

Upcoming Swiftwater Rescue Courses

Swiftwater Rescue Awareness (SRA)

This is a one day hands on introduction to swiftwater, basic rescue equipment and techniques. The course emphasises the challenges and dangers associated with operating in and around swiftwater situations and how to stay safe.

Duration: 1 day. Price: $250 per person.

We have availabilty on our next SRA course, which is scheduled for Tuesday January 16th, 2018. 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Swiftwater Rescue Technician 1 (SRT1)

This is an intensive three day course designed by Rescue 3 International which builds upon the knowledge and skills gained in the Swiftwater Rescue Awareness course.  Participants progress through the various stages of swiftwater rescue operations from basic individual rescues to more complex rescues and recoveries involving a team of rescuers and multiple pieces of equipment.  Participants are introduced to rescue management roles and techniques.

Duration: 3 days.Price: $720 per person.

We have availabilty on our next SRT course, which is scheduled for Wednesday January 17th -  Friday January 9th, 2018. 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Beginner Flatwater Course

BEGINNER Flatwater

Would you like to become a whitewater paddler & are ready to take the plunge?This is the first in a series of three courses designed to teach you how to paddle whitewater. Flatwater provides a controlled environment to start learning the many skills necessary to paddle whitewater. The course will begin on flatwater and progress to moving water.

You will be introduced to:

  • Basic strokes
  • Leaning & turning
  • Rolling
  • Simple rescue - self & others
  • River etiquette
  • Grade 1-3 whitewater
  • Scouting & river hazards
  • Reading water
  • Breaking in & out of the current
  • Ferry glides

Adventure Level: MODERATE. We recommend that you be physically fit, a strong swimmer and be very confident in the water.

Duration: 2 daysMinimum age: 12 yearsExperience: No experience necessary

Cost: $280 per person

Saturday 27th January and Sunday 28th January 2018

9am - 4pm each day

Australian Open - Canoe Slalom Event

From Friday February 16th - Sunday February 18th, 2018, come and watch some of the best paddlers in the world compete at Penrith Whitewater on our world class grade 3 rapids, including Olympic champion & World Champion Jessica Fox.
